Earlier this Spring, Tamale Sepp broke the news of a two-way mirror installed in women's bathroom in Berwyn's Cigars and Stripes restaurant and lounge. Since she posted her original video on YouTube, the story was picked up by a number of publications. Tamale joined us on The Morning AMp to give updates on what's been community's response and what Berwyn is and isn't doing to change the situation.
Watch the original video here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFS3KnwuOzc
The Morning AMp airs M-F 8-10 AM on 91.1 FM (CHI) / 89.5 FM (NWI) and streams at www.vocalo.org

Vocalo Feminist Council panelist Tamale Sepp talks about the viral video she made discovering a two-way mirror at Cigars and Stripes. The story picked up steam after being posted on Jezebel with a transcript of a rambling defiant rant from the establishment's owner.

Writer Mikki Kendall and comedienne/burlesque perfiormer Tamale Sepp joined hosts Molly Adams and Brian Babylon for the Council of Feminist Thought this week. In the first half of the council, we covered a feminist sci-fi festival taking place in Wisconsin. We also covered a new trend of ironic misandry, the idea of acting out the most extreme stereotype of feminists to show how ludicrous it is. Take a listen!

What does the Michael Brown shooting have to do with feminism? Hosts Molly Adams and Brian Babylon discussed the topic of police brutality and feminism in the second half of the Council of Feminism Thought with writer Mikki Kendall and comedienne and burlesque dancer Tamale Sepps.

“Black women, Latino women, Native American women- we are all supposed to be part of this. Our communities are being harmed by police brutality. Not only are the women dying, the children are dying, their husbands are dying, their brothers their uncles. The people they love are being killed… it should be a feminist issue because if we’re talking equality and we want equality, well equality includes not being killed for the color of your skin.”
