Tamale and Safety Third
Tamale and Safety Third began as a way for Tamale to invite her friends to share her solo spot in the incredible Fire Ball Masquerade. Tamale hosts the amazing event each January and folds her own unique performance into the line up though a solo spot each year. She began putting together more and more complex acts, incorporating an ever-expanding spectrum of skills and talents, and inviting her friends from all over the country to play. They create the act and practice for months via Google Hangouts, Skype, and Zoom from their home cities, then come together for one stellar night to rock out. Safety third incorporates drag, fire, grinder performance, and is a rotating cast of characters, bringing their talent to a shared vision. Every year is a different act and each year is spectacular!
About Fire Ball Masquerade:
Begun in 2008 by Jesse Russell, Emily Mills, and the folks at now-defunct (RIP) dane101.com, the Fire Ball has gone on to become one of the biggest, most well-attended, and certainly most entertaining nights of the winter months in Madison, Wisconsin.
Featuring dozens of talented performers from all across the Midwest and now the U.S., Fire Ball is a freaky fun variety show, both on stage and off. Fire artists, acrobats, burlesque performers, drag acts, sideshow freaks, opera singers, dancers, and more have all strutted their stuff on the boards at the Fire Ball. Meanwhile, our audiences are always dressed to the nines in whatever makes them feel fancy/good: evening wear, prom duds, cosplay, historical reenactment, steampunk, fetish, etc. Here's a little peek!
